We can preserve your own flowers (fresh or already dried) from your garden or special occasion OR you can request a type of flower that is significant to you, and we can find and work with that flower.
THE PROCESS
Once your florals have been received at the Bespoke Botanical studio they are meticulously arranged and dried using a professional grade drying agent to ensure they maintain their natural shape. Every flower dries at a different rate- from 3 days to 3 weeks. Some flowers will deepen several shades in colour during this process. Once all stems are dried I careful remove from the drying agent and they are staged within your selected mold. You can be involved in this process and we can work together on the flower arrangement or you can leave me to create the perfect layout. Once the flowers have been arranged the casting process can begin. A non toxic crystal clear liquid resin is poured in many layers to ensure the natural integrity of the petals are maintained. Each layer takes 8/12 hours to cure before the next layer is added, the whole process can take several weeks. All items are hand crafted so imperfections can occur- this adds to their charm. Small bubbles often arise and petals can go transparent when they come in contact with resin if they are bruised.
Once the casting is finalised and removed from its mould I sand the top layer and then flood coat with a final layer of resin. Each heirloom is then gift wrapped and posted to be treasured for years to come!
